Things have been moving and shaking over at Steamboat resort since the lifts started spinning last season. We are in the midst of a multi-year renovation and expansion project that will add more fun, more skiable acres, and make Steamboat more accessible to all of our guests.
Here is what you can expect when you arrive this winter in 2021-2022:
The gondola moved!
Not too far, just 300 feet east from the old gondola building, now it’s right on the snow! The gondola building itself was demolished to make room for lots of improvements at the base area.
Kids Vacation Center (KVC) is now Happy Camp – and they have moved, too!
Happy Camp (previously KVC), Steamboat's program for daycare and ski lessons for the littlest kids is now located in the west wing of the Sheraton Hotel. Happy Camp is for skiers ages 12 months to 4 years (skiing starts at 2.5 years).
The gondola building is gone!
If you feel like you’ve lost your way in the base area that you’ve always known, it’s because one of the cornerstones is missing! The gondola building was demolished this summer in preparation for the base area improvements.
Base Area Improvements
For this season, you will notice a lot more open space in the base area. There are also escalators giving you much easier access. The gondola and KVC have moved. But, be on the lookout – next year you will also see a new ice rink and additional shopping and dining options in the base area. More to come!
Covid Updates
Masks are required indoors for non-vaccinated individuals at Steamboat Resort. Masks are highly recommended for all individuals regardless of vaccination status at the resort. Kids aged 2 and older attending Happy Camp will be required to wear masks while indoors.
