Summer in Vail and Beaver Creek

“We came for the winter and stayed for the summer” …

You’ll hear this refrain from just about every single Colorado local who has lived here for more than a few years.

Because as much as we love schussing through untracked powder, cruising the corduroy on a bluebird day and enjoying aprés-ski by the fire, we adore hiking through the wildflowers, pedaling the peaks, paddle boarding on pristine lakes and sipping a craft beer along the creek.

Vail Colorado in Summer

And that’s just scratching the summer surface …

The Vail and Beaver Creek summer activity lists are teeming with gratifying options for all ages and interests: toddlers to teens; parents to grandparents; golfers to zipliners; hikers to bikers, wine connoisseurs to beer buffs … plus all the crowd-pleasers in between.

What does this mean for your summer?

It means you can bring your brood to Vail or Beaver Creek and be guaranteed a good time!

The beginning of summer is usually dedicated to grads and dads. What better way to celebrate academic and BBQ achievements than to bring the family back to Vail or Beaver Creek?

A mountain vacation will make more memories and certainly will be appreciated above, and beyond the requisite necktie, dorm decor, gadgets or grilling utensils we usually throw together for these occasions. Plus, if you reserve now, you won’t have to worry or wonder for the next 3 months about what to buy!

Here's to planning an unforgettable Vail or Beaver Creek summer!

Music and Arts Festivals

The Vail Valley is the epicenter for music and arts in the mountains. From Hot Summer Nights to the Vail Jazz Festival, the soundtrack to your summer just got a lot more interesting.

Bravo Vail boasts symphonies from New York, Dallas, and Philadelphia. The Vail Dance Festival brings in the New York City ballet among other notable dance companies. The Vilar Center in Beaver Creek hosts a variety of high-caliber summer performances, The Vail Jazz Festival spans different venues and dates culminating in the festival over Labor Day weekend, Vail bluegrass is on select nights in the Solaris Center and Hot Summer Nights is the local and visitor’s favorite rock, soul, blues free concert series throughout the summer on Tuesday nights at the beautiful outdoor pavilion at Ford Amphitheater.

Foodie Festivals

There are the Blues, Brews and BBQ event at the end of May in Beaver Creek and the absolutely delicious Beaver Creek Food & Wine Festival in August. The Sunday Farmer’s Market in Vail is always a foodie favorite and wine hikes are a thing all summer long in Beaver Creek. You can even “take a llama to lunch” for a guided llama trek and picnic over in Vail. Game Creek’s Sunday brunch and gorgeous gondola ride is well worth getting out of bed for.

Yee Haw! Western Fun

You can add a little Western flair to your summer with some boot-stomping fun at the Beaver Creek Rodeo or dig into a chuckwagon dinner and horse-drawn wagon ride over at 4 Eagles Ranch outside of Vail. You can muster up some cowboy bravery for the mechanical bull or even enjoy a Western dance night.

4th of July

Of course, the 4th of July is a favorite. With the parade and fireworks in Vail on the 4th and fireworks over the lake in Avon (Beaver Creek) on July 3rd.

You’d have to stay all summer to sample all that Vail and Beaver Creek have to offer, but here are just a few more of our summer favorites: fly fishing, mountain biking, electric biking, rafting, Jeep tours, ATV tours, segway excursions, hot air ballooning, roller-coaster riding, golf, ziplining, horseback riding and more!.
