It's Time to Make Powder Plans

Fall is in the air - the aspens are turning a brilliant gold, the highest peaks are getting dustings of snow, and the early snow predictions for the upcoming winter are taking shape. All indications are pointing to a La Niña weather pattern for ski season 2024-2025, which can mean above-average snowfall. So, we're planning on plenty of powder days! We've gathered the data to help you plan your ski season around the best chance for making turns in the deep pow pow - in the renowned "trees" in Steamboat, legendary Back Bowls in Vail, the steeps of Birds of Prey in Beaver Creek, and the high alpine bliss of Peak 6 in Breckenridge.

Check out which months typically see the most snow days at each of our destinations: Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Steamboat and Vail. By resort, here's the average number of days per month that see fresh snow. So regardless of whether it's an El Niño or La Niña ski season, with sunshine 300+ days per year, plus this number of snowfall days...your chances are always good for catching a bluebird powder day in the Colorado Rockies!

WHAT'S SO SPECIAL ABOUT FRESH POWDER?

Fresh pow pow! It's what makes for epic days on the slopes. It is much softer to ski and ride on fresh powder and you'll feel like you're floating down the mountain. Light and fluffy, powder snow is the absolute best in the Colorado Rockies due to its low moisture content. Steamboat has even trademarked its Champagne Powder®.
